Gardaí are trying to find two men travelling in a car after a shot was fired at a squad car this morning in Co Wexford.

The incident happened after gardaí from Gorey responded to an alert regarding suspicious activity within the Craanford area of north Wexford.

When gardaí approached a car, it sped off and because the pursuit was happening an attempt was fired from the car towards the garda car.

No injuries were sustained and therefore the gardaí withdrew from the area .

A major search operation is now underway in north Wexford.

Gardaí are urgently looking to trace a dark grey or black Skoda Fabia, which was last seen within the Gorey town or Clogh area.

Members of the general public are asked not to approach the men or the car.
